Randy Bustamante

Writer, editor, and translator Randolf Munoz Bustamante (1971–2020) has copyedited for various presses a wide range of manuscripts from the literary to the academic and scholarly. His poems and essays are anthologized in various books. More recently, before he passed on, he was gaining praise for his fluid elegant translations from English to Filipino, and Filipino to English. He carefully chose which works to translate: a verse translation into English of Florante at Laura by Francisco Balagtas, and into Filipino, Lourdes Reyes Montinola’s awardwinning war memoir Breaking the Silence: A War Memoir (Pagbasag sa Katahimikan: Isang Talang- Gunita ng Digma).
