Jack V. Haney (1940-2015) was professor emeritus of Slavic languages and literatures at the University of Washington, a Rhodes Scholar, and the translator and editor of An Anthology of Russian Folktales; The Complete Russian Folktales; Long, Long Tales from the Russian North; The Complete Folktales of A. N. Afanas’ev: Volume I; and The Complete Folktales of A. N. Afanas’ev, Volumes II and III, the latter four published by University Press of Mississippi.
