Ready Eddie Go! New Haircut

Knowing what to expect at the hairdressers!

SERIES: Ready Eddie Go!
Jessica Kingsley Publishers

Developed from the Ready, Eddie, Go! animated TV show, each book in this series highlights an area that autistic children find challenging and provides gentle and supportive strategies to help children find ways of coping, which all children can benefit from. The books use clear structure as well as visuals to help readers understand the story and identify strategies that may help when they face similar experiences.

In this book, Eddie gets a new haircut. He finds out what to expect at the hairdressers and learns that getting his hair cut can be fun!

Beautifully illustrated, and presented in Eddie’s trademark friendly voice, the Ready, Eddie, Go! series is designed to speak directly to young autistic children and to provide them with the reassurance and advice they need to be happy day-to-day.

Getting a haircut can be such a scary and over-whelming experience for a neurodivergent child, but this book will help allay any fear a child might have. It not only goes through what to expect at the hairdressers, but also shares clever tips to cope with challenges (e.g wearing your ear defenders upside down so your hair can be cut!). Another gem in this neuro-affirming and beautifully presented book series 'Ready Eddie Go!' Niamh Garvey, autistic author of the children's book "Being Autistic (and what that actually means)".
Ready Eddie Go! New Haircut provides a walk-through which describes Eddie’s experience of visiting the hairdresser. It provides opportunities for the reader to think about how they might experience this too. The book includes helpful and unique tips for overcoming tricky moments. For example, Eddie places his ear defenders on upside-down so that he can protect his ears against the noise of the hair dryers, and the hairdresser can continue to cut his hair. Dr Claire Prosser, Educational Psychologist and Clinical Advisor for the Ready Eddie GO! television series
