Submitting a Book Proposal

Please submit a book proposal of no more than twelve pages, and email it to the appropriate subject editor. The document should give UBC Press a clear and detailed idea of what your book will be about. Write in a direct style and highlight what’s distinctive, interesting, and relevant about your work. Please follow the book proposal guidelines.

We will acknowledge receipt of your proposal in a timely manner. After an initial assessment by the acquisitions editor responsible for your subject area, the proposal will be reviewed by the editorial committee, with input from marketing, and considered on the basis of clarity, contribution, and suitability for the UBC Press’s list and imprints. Given the large number of submissions we receive, an initial screening can take from four to six weeks for an unsolicited proposal.
