Women’s Suffrage and the Struggle for Democracy
Set aside the evening of Tuesday, March 8, to hear from award-winning authors Veronica Strong-Boag and Lara Campbell whose writings focus on the history of women’s equality in British Columbia.
Veronica Strong-Boag is a Member of the Order of Canada, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, professor emerita in social justice and educational studies at UBC. Lara Campbell is a professor at SFU and currently Associate Dean, Undergraduate Programming, Teaching and Learning in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. The books, “A Liberal-Labour Lady: The Life and Times of Mary Ellen Spear Smith” by Ms. Strong-Boag, and “A Great Revolutionary Wave: Women and the Vote in British Columbia” by Ms. Campbell, will be available for purchase after their presentations.
