The Templeton Press was established in 1997 by Sir John Templeton to publish books and disseminate ideas that reflected his philanthropic interests. While the topics and areas of focus changed over time, the Press focused its work on four areas of work—Foundational Questions in Science; Virtues and Character Development; Spirituality and Mental Health; Science and Religion; Books by and about Sir John Templeton and books that explored many dimensions of individual freedom and free markets. In 2023, the Templeton Press entered into an agreement with Rutgers University Press which allows Rutgers to publish, market and distribute the Templeton book list on behalf of Templeton Press. Templeton Press is distributed in Canada by UBC Press.

Religion and the Social Sciences
Basic and Applied Research Perspectives
To give this research the attention it deserves, editor Jeff Levin assembled a panel of preeminent social scientists and gave them a single directive: write the ultimate statement on religion from within their respective social science discipline or field. The result is this single volume, “state-of-the-science” compendium—a first of its kind for the study of religion.

Islamically Integrated Psychotherapy
Uniting Faith and Professional Practice
Integrating the Islamic faith with modern psychotherapy is at the forefront of the spiritually integrated psychotherapy movement. To bring this work to wider attention and to promote its continuation, Dr. Carrie York Al-Karam has brought together the present volume of nine essays, each of which is written by a Muslim clinician who practices Islamically integrated psychotherapy (IIP)—a modern approach that unites the teachings, principles, and interventions of the faith with Western therapeutic approaches.

Psychological Science and Christian Faith
Insights and Enrichments from Constructive Dialogue
Because Christianity and psychology deal with different levels of truth and speak vastly different languages, efforts to unify them often create more problems than they solve. What is needed is a better way to think about the relationship—an approach that does justice to the emerging insights from psychological science and biblical scholarship and that can enrich our understanding of both. In this volume, two accomplished psychologists show how this complementary dialogue can unfold, giving us a broader, deeper understanding of ourselves, our relationships, and our place in the cosmos.

Helping Groups Heal
Leading Groups in the Process of Transformation
The basic components of “The Healing Cycle” are grace, safety, vulnerability, truth, ownership, and confession. Helping Groups Heal guides the reader through these elements, offering case studies and practical advice from the voices of researchers and practitioners. Each chapter shows how “The Healing Cycle” moves its members to share their truth, own it, and make positive change in their lives. Each step of the process allows participants to move past surface issues and find depth in their understanding of their pain.
