Mandi Gray: Suing for Silence

Thursday, March 21, 2024 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
North Vancouver City Library, Third floor program room, 120 14th St W, North Vancouver

Shortly after its release on March 1, Mandi Gray will speak about her new book Suing for Silence: Sexual Violence and Defamation Law. The book is a ground-breaking examination that exposes the phenomenon of defamation lawsuits whose purpose is to silence those who disclose sexual violence.

Dr. Mandi Gray is an assistant professor at Trent University in the Department of Sociology. Suing for Silence (UBC Press) is her first book which critically examines the growing trend of men accused of sexual violence suing their accusers for defamation. Mandi has been involved in anti-violence activism since 2008.

Registration is recommended, but drop-ins may be allowed if space permits.
