A Healthy Future: Lessons from the Frontlines of a Crisis walks us wave by wave through the ways in which COVID revealed the ongoing problems in health care and social programs in Canada. It then points out important lessons we can learn from the pandemic experience. These ideas are richly illustrated with stories of Saskatchewan patients and Ryan's observations from the halls of legislature and hospital. This book will be of interest anyone who cares about the future of health and health care in Canada.

Ryan Meili is a family physician in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan with a focus on health equity and a lifelong advocate for healthy public policy. He served as Leader of the Saskatchewan New Democratic Party and Leader of the Official Opposition in Saskatchewan from 2018-2022. He is the author of A Healthy Society: How a Focus on Health Can Revive Canadian Democracy. Ryan lives in Saskatoon with his wife, Mahli Brindamour, and their two sons, Abe and Gus.

Host Tamara Hinz is a child psychiatrist, well-known health advocate and mother of two. She is an assistant professor in the College of Medicine at the U of S where she is part of a research team looking at youth mental health during COVID in Saskatchewan.
